October 2026 Release Notes

New Features

Avatars got a little more human. If your project uses an AI Avatar, you’ll notice these upgrades.

  • Mute yourself mid-conversation. Need to cough, sneeze, or yell at the dog? You can now mute and unmute your mic during a live Avatar session.
  • Shush the captions. You can now hide them or shrink them down when you’d rather just listen.
  • Interrupt (or don’t). Builders can now decide whether users can talk over an Avatar while it’s speaking.

This fall, the model lineup gets an upgrade

We’ve added four new models for you to build with:

  • Claude 5.5 Sonnet
  • Claude 5.5 Haiku
  • Grok 4.7
  • Gemini 4 Argon

Smarter document reading

  • Multi-column PDFs and tables with lines now read in the right order, so no more scrambled paragraphs.
  • Word documents are converted to PDF before reading, for more consistent results.

More ways to share and manage

  • Project owners and editors can now expire/delete their own API keys.

Timestamps, now in your chats

  • Chats now have timestamps, so you can tell when each query was sent and keep track of time and date across a long conversation.
  • Messages from today read “Today 9:38 AM,” so you can see at a glance what’s recent.

Usability Enhancements

Chat that’s easier to live with

  • You can now press Shift+Enter to start a new line while a response is still streaming.

  • You can now print the whole chat with Print Chat, not just part of it.
  • Long or complex questions no longer fail. We switch search methods automatically.
  • If a model is temporarily unavailable, chat now tells you plainly.

A builder that’s easier to get around

  • You can now follow breadcrumbs in the builder header to see where you are.
  • You can now drag the divider between settings and preview to give each side the room you want.

  • Clicking an edit icon now jumps you straight to the section you want to change.

A dashboard and marketplace that work harder for you

  • You can now open check-in coach in a new tab.
  • You can now page through your recent AI projects.

  • Banner and project icon cropping now opens edge to edge on large images.
  • We made accessibility improvements across the dashboard.

Clearer words everywhere

  • We gave error messages, tooltips, placeholders, voice mode, Google Drive, and knowledge base messaging a big wording refresh.

Spending and privacy

  • The default monthly project cap is now $100, and projects launched from Canvas get a $300 cap if none is set to avoid disrupting the student experience.
  • Google Analytics is now off everywhere, as a privacy upgrade.

Bug Fixes

Chat and conversations

  • Chat no longer gets stuck on “still thinking.”
  • Starting a new chat with an uploaded file no longer errors with “session already exists.”
  • The “Ask me” bot now sends your session info correctly instead of erroring.

Knowledge base and uploads

  • The knowledge base access toggle no longer flips itself off after your first upload.
  • Syllabot and FAQ Assistant now wait until your knowledge finishes processing before you can send.
  • The knowledge base tab now updates on its own after your first file upload.
  • Entering an invalid URL now shows a clean inline error.

Projects, copying, and sharing

  • Copying a marketplace project no longer loses fields.
  • Copies now use the new project name you picked.
  • The projects list sorts correctly.

Settings, menus, and pop-ups

  • You’re now redirected properly when your session expires.
