CreateAI Builder lets ASU students, faculty and staff create custom AI assistants without coding. You can build assistants for answering questions, searching documents, automating workflows, supporting students, and more.
No. CreateAI Builder is designed for users of all technical skill levels and includes a simple interface for building AI assistants.
Like any new application, some features and workflows may take a little time to learn, especially when customizing an assistant or configuring advanced options. However, most users can begin creating and using AI assistants without technical experience.
CreateAI Builder uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to ground responses in the sources you provide. Because it prioritizes your uploaded content, responses may differ from general-purpose AI tools.
No. CreateAI is currently available to ASU faculty and staff at no cost. Enterprise Technology covers the cost of nearly all CreateAI usage, including classroom projects, faculty-built AI tools, and large-enrollment courses. You may see pricing displayed for AI models within CreateAI. These prices are shown for transparency only. They are not charges to you or your department. Displaying model costs helps users understand that AI usage has a real cost, compare the efficiency of different models, and make informed choices when selecting the best model for their needs, especially for tools with a large number of users.

Data privacy
CreateAI Builder is approved for ASU non-regulated, internal, and FERPA-protected data when used in accordance with ASU's Data Handling & Privacy Guidelines. It is not approved for HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GLBA, or other regulated data types. All data remains within ASU's environment and is not shared externally or used to train AI models.
