Overview

Zoom AI Companion is a generative AI assistant integrated into the Zoom platform, including products like Meetings, Recordings, Whiteboards, Phone, and more. It's designed to enhance productivity and collaboration by automating routine tasks, providing insights, and streamlining workflows.
Some key features and functionalities include:
  • Meeting Summaries: Generates concise summaries of meetings, highlighting key points, action items, and decisions made.
  • In-Meeting Questions: Allows meeting participants to ask questions about the meeting's content without interrupting the flow.
  • Smart Recording: Organizes cloud recordings into smart chapters, highlights key takeaways, and provides analytics on conversation factors, such as talk speed and filler word usage.
  • Whiteboard Content Generation: Enables users to generate ideas, refine content, and add objects to a whiteboard canvas with one click.
  • Email and Chat Compose: Helps you draft and reply to emails and chat messages faster and with the appropriate tone and length.

Who can use this product?

ASU students, faculty, and staff can use Zoom AI Companion at no cost.

 

Ready to get started with Zoom AI Companion?

This tool is automatically available to all ASU community members at no cost. Follow the steps below to activate the AI Companion on your Zoom account.

Quick steps to start using Zoom AI Companion

  1. Visit asu.zoom.us and select the “Log In” button.

  2. Sign in with your ASURITE credentials.

  3. In the Zoom dashboard, select “Settings” in the sidebar menu.

  4. Select the “AI Companion” tab towards the top.

  5. Toggle the AI Companion feature to “On” to activate it.

  6. Review any pop-up information about privacy and responsible use.
  7. Start or join a Zoom meeting to see the AI Companion in action.
  8. Use features such as live transcription, meeting summaries, and smart suggestions during meetings.
  9. Access transcripts and AI-generated notes for up to 30 days after your meeting. Select the "Summaries" in the sidebar menu in the Zoom dashboard.

Example use case


A student wants to review meeting notes and action items after a group project Zoom session.

Steps

  1. Join or start a Zoom meeting via asu.zoom.us.
  2. Sign in with your ASURITE credentials.
  3. Activate AI Companion in the meeting controls.
  4. Navigate to "Summaries" in the Zoom dashboard menu after the meeting.
  5. Select the relevant meeting summary from the list, or search using the meeting topic/ID or a date range.

Zoom only allows you to run one meeting at a time on your ASU Zoom account. 

To prevent inappropriate display names and further secure Zoom sessions, the default setting for allowing users to change their names displayed in meetings has been disabled. See Changing Display Name in a Zoom Meeting for instructions.

Yes, you can invite anyone to join your Zoom meetings as a guest by providing them with a meeting URL or meeting ID number. Users are not required to have a Zoom account to join a meeting. Only the meeting host is required to have a Zoom account.
